What Is Kybella?<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Kybella\u00a0is a non-surgical treatment to reduce chin fat, also known as\u00a0double chin.\u00a0Kybella\u00a0is the commercial name for generic\u00a0deoxycholic acid, which is a natural\u00a0molecule that helps the body break down and absorb fat from food. The active ingredient in\u00a0Kybella\u00a0is a synthetic form of\u00a0deoxycholic acid.<\/p>

When injected into subcutaneous fat, the fat just under the skin, this molecule permanently removes fat cells. Once\u00a0Kybella\u00a0destroys the fat cells under the chin, there is no longer a way to store and retain the fat cells there, preventing the fat from accumulating in the future.<\/p>

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)\u00a0approved the use of\u00a0Kybella\u00a0to reduce chin fat in 2015. It is not approved for use in other body fat deposits.<\/p>
